LEGO Mindstorms EV3 – firmware upgrade

If you have faced the issue with firmware update (e.g. via page: https://ev3manager.education.lego.com) here are the steps that worked for me:

Note! I am describing here the process for: LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3

1. Download the firmware upgrade from LEGO page: https://education.lego.com/en-gb/product-resources/mindstorms-ev3/downloads/firmware-update/

The direct link to firmware is: EV3 Firmware

2. Download EV3 Lab Software v. 1.4.2

You can download it from here: https://education.lego.com/pl-pl/downloads/retiredproducts/mindstorms-ev3-lab/software/

Note! These steps will work only for Windows. macOS (recent release) will no longer run this application.

3. Install EV3 Lab Software v. 1.4.2

During installation process you will be informed that installation process has failed. Don’t worry. It doesn’t matter in this case. Once EV3 Lab is installed, proceed with steps as described here: https://ev3-help-online.api.education.lego.com/Retail/en-us/page.html?Path=editor%2FFirmwareUpdate.html

This should make your brick up to date with: LME-EV3_Firmware_1.10E.bin firmware.

Now you can get back to EV3 Classroom and pair your brick. As for pairing the brick via Bluetooth, the way that worked for me was: (a) pair it in Windows by adding Bluetooth device; (b) open EV3 Classroom; (c) Connect the brick from the project page.
